If you’ve read this far, thank you. Big thanks to my editor for actually staying with me through this crap. And also, please get checked out at a hospital to see for any lasting damages to your brain—All jokes aside, this series was the worst shit I’ve ever read, and I can’t even recommend it to anybody because I fear for their mental health. I’m just here to document this atrocity. That’s all, cy@ peeps. PS: Check out our other, good, projects.

Everyone’s Epilogue!

“So, what’s the cause?”

“Stress, I’d assume. Upset stomach, urge to vomit, collapsing, everything.”

“Ehhhh…”

“Using the word stress, that means being forced into something you definitely didn’t want to do, or so is the general impression, but it’s actually just overall stress and burden-bearing on your heart. I heard the circumstances, but working harder than you usually did definitely impacted your stress levels. For now, you should get some rest. I will give you some medicine but sleep is the best healing process.”

“D-Doctor…what about school?”

“Kujou-san, you collapsed, remember? You should take it easy.”

And, now is the first day I’m back to school after hearing that from the doctor. Hirahara-sensei and the head of the student year showed me awfully complicated expressions…Well, I caused that much of a ruckus, and then was in bed three days because I collapsed from the stress…Of course, Kasuga came to visit me every day…and as a result of that, she ran into my parents…

What a mess, really…I should have introduced her to my family when we were still lovers…and now she introduced herself as ‘Dear father! Dear mother! Nice to meet you! I am Shizuki-kun’s fiancee Kasuga Hina!’. Of course, they were happy but also baffled at the same time. The second I walked into the class…

“Love Master, good morning!”

“What is that nickname, Ooba?”

“I mean, come on? Engaged? You’re high school students! You confessed in front of basically the entire student body on a special stage at the culture festival! Calling you master or teacher alone isn’t even remotely close. You’re a love master now, lol.”

Following Ooba, now Koide and Takaishi approached me.

“Love masteeeeer…Pleaeeeee…introduce me and Takaishi to some girls…”

“Why are you the popular one…Back in April, I thought you’d never be a hotshot like this…”

“Come on, he may be together with Kasuga, but you two still know more girls than him! Why don’t you try and get along more with the actual girls around you?”

“No waaaaay…”

“Can’t you do anything about that…”

“Alright, I’m collecting the trash~” Nakao pulled Koide away from me.

“Sorry about this, love master. Hina’s sitting at the window-side looking like a puppy that got cast away by its owner, so hurry on up over there.” Asaka said while freeing me from Takaishi.

Of course, I perfectly understood what I had to do, and moved towards the window-side—

“Good morning, Shizuki-kun!”

“Y-Yeah, morning Kasuga.”

“Ehhhhhh!? Ka-Su-Gaaaaaa!?”

“Isn’t this the point where you should call her Hi-Na, hmmmm!?”

Mai-san and Eri-san were as annoying as always. Weird…I don’t remember them being this aggressive…I guess this is how much normies change as soon as love is involved…

“Ah, um…~~~! H-Hina.”

“Yes~”

“Well, you know…”

“There!”

~~~!? Linking arms with me out of the blue!? She skipped all the fiancee talk and went straight to action!?
“Shizuki-kun, once club is over, let’s go on a date, okay?”
“Grrr…It better be a calm location, alright!?”
****
Days keep passing us by awfully quickly. It was already Saturday now, which makes it one week since the second day of the culture festival.
“Shizuki-kun, is this right?”
“Since they said it was a live concert venue, I expected something like a martial arts parlor or an arena, but to think it was a live house like this.”
“That’s still pretty amazing. Singing and dancing in front of random strangers.”
This place is around a ten-minute walk away from Sendai station. Hina and I were invited to Aramiya’s live concert. As there were only standing places, no appointed seats, she handed me the ticket free of charge. Right in the middle, we spotted Aramiya, not having changed yet the way things looked.
“Shizupai! Hinapai! So you came!”
“Giving us free tickets, you basically forced us, no?”
“Remi-chan, you only gave Shizuki-kun a ticket, right? Letting you two meet alone had me too anxious, so I had to buy my own ticket…”
“Ahaha, sorry, Hinapai! The free-of-charge tickets don’t grow on trees, after all!”
“So, why’d you invite me?”
“Heh, isn’t that obvious? Remi wanted you to watch!”
“The live concert?”
“More accurately, Remi wanted you to see the first live concert of the reborn Aramiya Remi!”
“Right. Well, I’ll stay here until the very end, so don’t waste it.”
Aramiya cleared her throat and seemed like her attitude changed.
“Shizupai, Remi will do her best.”
“Yeah, looking forward to it.”
“So that she won’t regret anything ever again.”
“Commendable. I’m cheering for you. We’ll see each other in the club again once in a while, but I’ll be watching over your rebirth.”
“Not because Remi went through the pain, but so that she can chase her dream, grant her dream. For now, it’s being sealed.”
“You okay with that? Party-goer sealing away love?”
“It’s not about being okay with it. Remi has to in order to show her seriousness, right? So, Remi will stay away from love, but Shizupai being Remi’s first love and the last one before she gave up on it…Remi is glad about that.”
“…You’re making my back itch.”
“Remi thinks that humans can’t change that easily. At the very least, deep at their roots.”
“That would make them a different person after all.”
“But, meeting Shizupai, falling in love, having Remi heartbroken, she possibly changed, you know? Something very close, very very very close to her root!”
“Should I apologize?”
“No, you don’t have to! Remi will definitely grant it herself! Up on the stage with the lights focussed on Remi—”
“I’ll listen to all of it, don’t worry. Once you are granted your dream, you’ll say—” Aramiya showed a gentle smile.
I also felt refreshed, and our voices matched up—
““The declaration of victory: ‘I managed to grasp my weakness’, that is!””
Kasuga seemed a bit confused as to what we were talking about, but that’s perfectly fine. When we first discussed that, it was just the two of us, not to mention inside a forest. It sounded like a conversation ripped straight out of a shounen battle manga, but these phrases belong to only me and Aramiya. So, she put her fist towards me, waiting for my response…I see. I raised my own fist, gently pumping it into hers. Do your best, Aramiya. I may have fallen in love with Kasuga, and Akizuki may have been my ideal type of girl, but the one who changed the most by meeting me was Aramiya!
“Alright, Remi has to get changing now. I’ll see you later, Shizupai, Hinapai!”
“Go and get ‘em, Aramiya.” “Do your best, Remi-chan!”
“OK! Standing, I’m cute. Sitting, I’m pretty. Walking, I’m charming~ Remi’s smile is always a full 100 percent, and she’s the most beautiful high school girl in the world! Aramiya Remi has arrived~!”
And with that, Aramiya challenged her first live concert after being reborn. A few minutes later, the live concert started, and I decided to put my faith in her. Faith that one day she’ll make it on the news or late-night shows as a municipal idol that she always wanted to become.
****
A few days later, on a weekday…
“Shizuki-kun! Let’s eat lunch together!”
“Sure.”
“Okay! At the clubroom then!”
Of course, we stopped with the whole loner lunch stuff. The same goes for the loner way home idea. We’re still eating in isolated places so that we don’t get endless stares, but we’re eating face-to-face. However, once we walked towards the clubroom—
“Haruka-senpai’s out cold, huh.”
“I heard the rumors, but it seems like she’s trying to get more sleep.”
“Unya…? Secretary? Kasuga-san?”
“Good morning.”
“Haruka-senpai, it’s lunch break already, you know?”
“Hawawa! There’s drool on my desk! I-I’ve shown you such a pathetic sight!”
“Ah, it’s fine, it suits you just fine.”
“Secretary, what exactly do you mean by that!? Even I’m shocked if you say that!”
“By the way, Haruka-senpai, have you eaten lunch already?”
N-No.”
Well, this clubroom has more desks and chairs than members of this club. That reminds me, how long has it been since we put desks together like this in order to eat?
“Seems like you’ve been getting more sleep lately, Chisaka-senpai.”
Indeed! Right now, I’m going to bed at 9 o’clock, getting up at 6 o’clock, which gives me nine hours of sleep.”
“Ahaha…So you’re still sleeping 9 hours despite that…”
“So, I didn’t have much time to ask, but how are things going with your father and grandpa?”
“Yes yes! Hear me out! Before, we went to a family restaurant, an aquarium, and even a theme park! Also, since the summer vacation has ended already, we will be using the winter vacation to check out America, England, and Spain with an airplane!”
“Eh!? Three countries all-together!?” Hina commented in shock.
“Hehe~ Father said that I worked the hardest this year since I was born, so Santa-san will come to visit for sure. He even asked me what present I wanted! So, father offered traveling to America, grandfather said we would go to England, and Santa-san would prepare a trip to Spain!”
I feel like there’s something fundamentally weird about this, but Chisaka-senpai puffed out her chest in confidence.
“Good for you~ Just make sure to not end up lost, you hear me?”
“Why are you looking at me like I’m some poor child, Secretary!?”
“But, it’s going well, right? With your family.”
“Yes! It’s all thanks to Secretary!”
There, she suddenly stopped with her chopsticks.
“Secretary, do I look like a sunlight character?”
“Hmmm? Mmm…Not on the level of Kasuga or Aramiya, but I guess you do. I mean, you’re not part of the Ooba group or Kasuga group, but when you’re in the center of your own group of friends, it does feel that way.”
“But, I’m thinking of stopping acting as a sunlight character.”
“Eh?” “Haruka-senpai will!?”
“Ahaha…Of course, in a natural state, I tend to seem like a more sociable type. I’m good at talking, and I like being in the center of attention. However, Secretary convinced me to become an adult.”
“Shizuki-kun!? What is this about?!”
“C-Calm down, Hina! We just talked about how we could improve her family’s circumstances! She didn’t mean that in the AV or adult game sense!”
“About that, I don’t mind looking like a sunlight character, but I at least want to stop taking actions that would make me seem like one.”
“Chisaka-senpai…” “I see…”
“Secretary…I don’t want you to take responsibility…and the nuance is a bit different from simply thanking you…but I do feel thankful…Ah, I know!”
“Hm? Found the right word.”
“Yes!” Chisaka-senpai gently smiled. “Meeting Shizuki-san, I changed a lot. Personality, way of thinking, values, and the bonds between my family. That’s why I want to tell you…not I’m sorry, not thank you, but that I won’t ever forget about this!”
Oh crap, my eyes are getting warm…I’m really weak when it comes to Chisaka-senpai…
“Ehehe, I won’t give up on being the company president and a university student, but I got a bit more freedom now. Soon will be the time for entrance exams, but once those are done, I’ll be a university student…and I’d like to experience my own type of youth!”
Ahh…She’s been sacrificing all sorts of things until now, after all. She already has the perfect smile for that. Until graduation, there’s barely half a year left. Considering winter break and time off school for her, she probably won’t show up that frequently anymore. That’s why I hope she can treasure the last few memories she’ll be able to make. And, that she will be able to spend an enjoyable campus life after that.
****
“H-Hey, Shizuki-kun, Sakuya-chan?”
“What’s up?” “What’s wrong?”
“Should I really be here?”
The ‘here’ Hina was talking about referred to the seat between me and Akizuki at the library. It’s a very emotional thing, and I can’t fully explain it, but if there’s any person I would allow to sit next to me during this time, there can only be Hina. It’s normal to keep things quiet in the library, so Hina should know enough manners to not talk too loudly. By the way, classes had already ended for today, and we had no club activities. Hina suddenly said she wanted to experience the same type of atmosphere Akizuki and I usually have at the library. Luckily, it’s just the three of us right now.
“Alright.” “Yes.”
“Lovey-dovey time?”
“Huh? We’ll be reading books, of course.”
“I was rejected by Kujou-kun, remember? Yet you want to flirt with Kujou-kun next to me…are you a psychopath?”
“Gah!”
“But, you’re right…At the club, Aramiya and Chisaka-senpai are with us, and we can’t do it in the classroom, so let’s check answers.”
“Check answers?”
“That’s right, there’s something I wanted you to know as well.”
“Why did you not want an answer right away after confessing, yet you set up the after-festival as a time limit?”
“Thinking back on it, it was an underhanded reason, really. Back in May, and during the outdoor school, I always gave you advice. It’s simple, I wanted you to rely on me, be dependent on me so that you can’t even live on without my advice.”
“You crazy wench.”
But, that makes sense. That’s why she commented with ‘…I’m reaching my limit’ when Kasuga and I made up after the outdoor school. Back then, I didn’t know what she was talking about, but now I get it.
“Yes, you’re right, I’m twisted. And, the reason I asked for your response during the after-festival is also simple. I was guessing that you wouldn’t be able to resolve the problem, seeing no other option but come to me.”
“I see.”
“You’re not angry?”
“You just said it was underhanded. Meaning, you won’t do it again. There’s no need for me to force you into repenting, and it’s a waste of time as well.”
“Alright, then it’s my turn now.”
“Go ahead.”
“You denied that I was your ideal, right? If so, then will you make Kasuga-san give up on becoming a loner? That would be awfully incoherent.”
“Huh?”
“You said that you fell in love with Kasuga-san because there’s no way you couldn’t come to like a girl that is working this hard to change herself for the boy she likes, right? I won’t let you ignore that statement. If you let her stop aiming to become a loner, you would make her give away one reason why you fell in love with her in the first place, which seems foolish to me.”
“From my point of view, your question is much more foolish.”
“…What do you mean?”
“Did you forget? After the misunderstanding between me and Hina during the outdoor school, she said ‘I will become a girl who surpasses your ideals’… and after that, she said…Oh yeah, it was ‘As a sort-of image, first it’s the current me and Remi-chan, followed by the two of us who have become your ideal type of girl, and then it’ll be me and Remi-chan who surpassed your ideal. So, becoming your ideal type of girl is to end up almost identical. But, once we reach that, I’ll try my best to surpass your ideals, and Remi-chan will do the same in her own way. Then if I work hard like that, you’ll continue to fall in love with me even more’.”
“…I see.”
“Because of that, even if I deny my ideals, Hina continued to show me earnest hard work, right?”
“That reminds me, Kasuga-san hasn’t said anything this entire time.”
“Well…Um…the conversation between the two of you just is so complicated…and hard to digest, which is why…”
“What are you talking about, Hina?”
“Eh?”
“From now on, you’ll surpass Akizuki, right? One day, you’ll be able to do the same thing.”
“~~~! Okay, I’ll do my best!”
“So, as you two are childhood friends, isn’t there anything you should be saying to each other?”
“Okay, I’ll start then.” Akizuki raised her hand.
“Yup.”
“I’m sorry for everything. Let alone Kujou-kun, I even meddled with your business, and caused confusion like that.”
“Yup! I forgive you! You were in love, so it couldn’t be helped. But, no more, okay? After all, Shizuki-kun is my fiancee now.”
“But at the same time, I still plan on staying in the club…”
“Hm?”
“I know it might sound arrogant coming from me, but…I’d be happy if you would hang around with me from time to time after checking that nobody is around.”
“!? D-Do you…!”
“If Hina’s a dog, then Akizuki is a cat. Akizuki wants attention, but not if it doesn’t fit her requirements. Good for you, Hina.”
“Yup!”
“So…well, what do you have to say to me, Kasuga-san?”
“Hm? That we’ll get along from now on, and that maybe we can be real friends this time?”
“Why is that a question, Hina?”
“That’s it…? Even though I did so many bad things to you?”
“Come on now, Sakuya-chan, I just said that I forgive you!”
“……!”
“Let’s get along from now on, Sakuya-chan!”
****
And finally, at Sendai station…
“Summer’s about to end huh, Shizuki-kun.”
“Don’t think I’ll ever forget this past half of a year, even until the day I die.”
“Really? I won’t forget it even after I die.”
“Meaning?”
“Even after I’m reborn, I’ll keep those memories in my heart, look for Shizuki-kun, and then fall in love with you again, confess, and then we’ll be together again forever.”
“I see.”
“Yup~”
“But, first we have to live in this life, alright? We can’t redo anything.”
“You’re right. So then, Shizuki-kun.”
“Hey now, no kiss. We’re in the middle of Sendai station.”
“Ahaha, that is a shame, but I know that you’re not in your normie mode right now, so we’ll do that another time…But, I do have a request.”
“S-Something we can do here?”
“Yup, something really simple.”
“Is that…”
“Shizuki-kun, you kissed me, proposed to me, and did something you normally wouldn’t do, even calling me by my name, right?”
“Y-Yeah.”
“But, you never really held my hand before, you know.”
My eyes opened in shock. I see…she’s right. It was so simple, yet I never realized…Hina would always pull my hand along, no matter what. That’s why I should take the first step today, muster up my courage, and grab her hand. If not, then I won’t be able to respond to the princess of light, Hina, as the dark emperor of loners. Even if plus and minus are different, our absolute value, what we give to each other, lets us move forward. That’s why I see no reason not to hold her hand. Like during a marital vow, the two of us moved forward.
“Shizuki-kun, are you happy right now?”
“That sure came out of nowhere.”
“Ah, but, maybe I should ask if you feel free instead?”
“Yeah, that’s a much more fitting question for us.”
“Yup yup!”
“I am free, no doubt. Being liked by the girl I like, being engaged to the girl I chose, I don’t regret this freedom.”
“Yup~ Nobody can stop feelings of love after all~”
