Summer isn’t over yet!

Part 1

Haneda Airport’s lobby was packed with tourists enjoying the three-day long weekend.

I loved airports and train stations. The joyful expressions of people immersed in their vacations stirred up feelings of excitement within me.

“I’m first, huh……”

8:00 was the time to meet, but it was now 7:30. It seemed that I had come too early.

In my boredom I thought about killing time by looking for souvenirs at a nearby store, but just as I did Shirokusa arrived.

“Good morning, Suu-chan.”

“……!”

Wow…… a hefty punch right off the bat……

The white of her one-piece dress seemed to say that since it was in her name (Shiro) it was her personal colour. To match her outfit perhaps, she was also pulling a cream-coloured case.

However, it was the straw hat which had been placed on top of the latter that caught my attention most of all.

She wasn’t wearing it right now, but was there really any doubt it would look good on her……?!

If a traditional, long, black-haired beautiful girl dressed in this kind of outfit, the resulting cuteness would be almost criminal.

“Erm…… what do you think……?” Shirokusa inquired restlessly.

To me alone she had no bite. That part of her was incredibly sweet.

As a result I got embarrassed too, and I scratched my cheek while averting my gaze away from her.

“…… Well…… I think it’s incredible……”

“R- Really……?!”

“Y- Yeah…… it suits you…… a- and it’s pretty…… I think……”

“T- Thanks……”

This was so embarrassing!

Speaking of which, it was kind of rare for me to be alone with Shirokusa. In school our classmates were always around after all, and even if I so happened to end up alone with her almost immediately someone else would show up. Unlike Kuroha I didn’t meet her in private.

Badump – pounded my heart.

Wait, what was this?

Sweat coated my palms. The throbbing of my heart swelled further.

This wouldn’t do. I was too unprincipled. No matter how beautiful Shirokusa was, I was getting too excited over just seeing her in her casual wear.

Feeling good vibes, perhaps, Shirokusa closed the distance between us to a step less than the usual.

“You know, Suu-chan.”

The gap was such that if she snuggled just a little closer her head would be practically against my shoulder.

My body stiffened upon being reminded of the feeling of Shirokusa’s breathing against my ear from in her car before.

“There’s a place I want to show you when we arrive at the–”

“–Ooh, I’d love to see it too.”

A Maria dressed in lovely nautical fashion grinned as Shirokusa and I turned around.

…… Wait, she was smiling, but perhaps she was actually angry?

Even as she smiled there was a vein bulging on her forehead.

“M- Momosaka-san?!”

“Aren’t you a little too close…… Shirokusa-san?”

“?!”

Shirokusa and I turned to each other, before we each turned red-faced and took a step towards the side.

Now there were two steps between us. The usual distance.

Shit, shit……”

Was this the “vacation magic” Aoi spoke of? Perhaps the anticipation of the trip combined with the excitement from seeing a new side of people somehow made one’s heart less guarded than usual.

“Long time no see, Sueharu-kun!”

“Woah!”

From behind my shoulders were abruptly enveloped by a pair of arms before they were then weighed down.

A nostalgic face greeted me as I turned to see who it was.

“Ah…… You’re Momo’s sister……”

“That’s right, it’s Eri. You remembered. Thanks.”

Eri grinned, showing her teeth.

She was Maria’s older sister, Eri-san. Someone I had seen a lot of six years ago around the time I was teaming up a lot with Maria.

If I wasn’t mistaken she was seven years Maria’s senior and six years mine…… which made her about twenty-three perhaps?

She was still a beautiful person.

From her features one could tell that she and Maria were sisters, but they were more mature and thus gave a stronger impression of gentleness and magnanimity. Well, but of course the biggest difference between them was their bust size, though.

In contrast to Maria, dressed precisely and sweetly like a Western doll, I found the casual way the short-haired, energetic-feeling Eri-san grinned very friendly and attractive.

“Don’t mention it, I’m more happy you remembered me. Can I ask what you’re doing right now?”

Six years ago she wasn’t going to high school but instead working to earn a living. With Maria having succeeded the chances of her still doing the same were probably low.

“Maria was kind enough to say could I study, so right now I’m a sophomore at Meiji University.”

“Ooh! Amazing! The Big6! Congratulations!”

“That said my batchmates treat me like an aunt, though. I’m quite a bit older than those around me, after all.”

“Not at all. You’re pretty, Eri-san.”

“Ooh, smooth with the compliments, aren’t we?”

“I wasn’t flattering you, really.”

Perhaps it was because Eri-san wouldn’t react awkwardly to it, or because she projected a very welcoming aura, that I was confident that it would be fine even if I complimented her looks straightforwardly.

“Thanks…… Speaking of which–”

Eri-san drew in the arms she wrapped around my shoulders tightly.

Her ample bust pressed against my two arms and dopamine surged within my brain bringing a sense of bliss.

It was then that–

“–You’re not gonna make my Maria cry, are you?”

“Eek……”

I had those frigid words thrown at me.

“A lot of beautiful girls around you after all, Sueharu-kun.”

“Ohh, no, that’s not……”

“That one over there, Shirokusa-chan, was it? She’s incredibly beautiful, and honestly just your type, isn’t she?”

“That’s, err, no comment……”

“And your childhood friend Kuroha-chan? She rejected you in that video, but you still like her, don’t you?”

“If you ask me so suddenly, I……”

“Maria’s cute, isn’t she?”

“S- She is.”

Super cute, right?”

“Y- Yes.”

“Doesn’t that make you think you don’t want to make her cry?”

“I- It does.”

“Why are you stuttering?”

“The pressure–”

Having boobs pressed against me would ordinarily have been enough to make me excited, but the incredible pressure brought by Eri-san’s words and expression made that anything but the case here.

This side of her added to her magnanimity made me no match for her.

“Big Sis……?”

It was perhaps only natural for Maria’s interest to have been piqued as Eri-san continued whispering secretively with her arms around me.

The latter let go of me abruptly and sheepishly laughed.

“It’s been a while since we last met, so there were a few things I wanted to ask him in private. I might have ended up pressing him a little.”

“Eh? What did you ask, Big Sis?!”

“Heheheh∼, that’s a secret,” Eri-san replied to Maria, winking at me and sealing my lips.

It was when she thus showed off her charm, or easygoing side perhaps, that I truly felt that I couldn’t beat her.

It was kind of nostalgic. Back then she was someone you couldn’t feel the slightest bit of gloom from, despite her working at only seventeen with the weight of her family’s finances on her shoulders.

She was a kind, easy to talk to, amusing older sister.

From the start I had idolised Eri-san while never being her match.

“Erm…… I must apologise for making this request so suddenly. My father had urgent business to attend to, so……”

Shirokusa apologised to Eri-san as it was her father Souichirou-san who was to have fulfilled the role of chaperone.

A small excursion by train notwithstanding, all the same it would have been dangerous for high school students to go to Okinawa alone.

For that reason, the owner of the villa and private beach, Soichirou-san, was to have accompanied us as our guardian. As the president of a company, it was probably unavoidable to have these things happen.

So, after searching for familiar people who could go, it was Eri-san who had volunteered.

“Huh? What are you saying? I get to go to Okinawa for free, you know? The good fortune’s all mine!” Eri-san cackled.

That seemed to leave a good impression on Shirokusa.

“It’s a relief hearing you say that.”

“You’re so pretty yet so considerate. Wouldn’t it be better if you learned a thing or two watching her, Maria?”

“Big Sis!”

Maria turned completely red and puffed out her cheeks.

Oh, I felt her. It really was quite embarrassing to have your relatives jilt you while complimenting other people.

Don’t say anything unnecessary! Please, just stay quiet!” I would feel like saying.

“What, Maria? These aren’t your colleagues at work, so it wouldn’t hurt to show your true self a little, would it?”

“B- Big Sis! Please, don’t say any more……!”

“Whaaat, you mean I can’t tell them about how you can’t sleep if you don’t call me when you’re staying outside to film? But that’s so cute, though, right?”

“Wa-, Big Sis! Why would you say something like that?! M- My image!”

Maria hit Eri-san repeatedly, but the latter simply laughed and took no damage.

It might have been a little pitiful to smile when Maria was sulking so tremendously, but watching the exchange between the two of them made a grin unconsciously escape me.

In truth I was relieved.

In these six years Maria had matured and become eye-openingly cute. Her shrewdness had been polished too. That was how flawless she appeared.

Perhaps that was a good thing, but I also feared that this end state might have been a result of her trying to protect herself after several bitter and painful experiences.

Watching the figure of her sparring with her older sister Eri-san, however, it was as if I could see the intimate days they had spent over those six years and I felt unusually pleasant.

“That just leaves Tetsuhiko and Rena, huh……”

At present it was about five minutes before the stipulated gathering time. The former was of the type that always came on the dot or a little late, so we had a bit of time left.

“You know, I think I want to go and take a look at the shops a little, would that be fine? I’ll be back in a jiffy.”

“There’s something you want to buy, Suu-chan?”

“I just want to see what kind of souvenirs they’re selling, but maybe I’ll also get something for breakfast if I can find it.”

“In that case, Big Brother Sueharu, what about having something like this instead?” Maria said, before pulling out from her bag–

“Oh, isn’t this the rusk you used to make a lot of? You were always good at making economical food, after all.”

Created by heating up bread crust in the microwave, applying butter to it, then heating it up once again before finally sprinkling on some granulated sugar – or so she once explained to me, I think.

Maria used to make a lot of these economical kinds of food. The cheap, filling and satisfying rusk was one of her specialties. So she was still making it despite now being rich enough to buy and have delivered any amount of luxurious sweets she liked?

At that fact I couldn’t hold back my surprise, but I also thought that it was a great thing that she hadn’t thrown away her modesty even after becoming rich.

I picked up a piece of rusk and put it into my mouth.

The taste of butter, sweetness of granulated sugar, then the crunchy sensation of bread spread within my mouth before they all then flowed into my empty stomach.

“Delicious! You’ve gotten even better, Momo!”

“Hehe, the ingredients I used are better than the ones from before after all, and I’ve also made some improvements to my technique, you know?”

“Ooh! For example?”

“Before I used a microwave, but now I use a conventional oven, and in terms of the settings–”

It was just as Maria’s explanation was beginning to take off that Shirokusa cut in.

“N- Now just wait a minute, Momosaka-san. You’re a popular and wealthy actress, aren’t you? So why is it you also happen to be good at making economical food then?!”

“…… Oh, you didn’t know, Shirokusa-san? We used to be poor, and I only survived because Big Sis went to work immediately after graduating from middle school. It’s only natural I can make something like economical food.”

“Y- You’re kidding…… I mean, aren’t people like actresses ordinarily supposed to be bad at cooking……?”

“That’s an assumption. Actually I’m far from bad and can cook more or less anything, but what about it?”

“………… Nothing.”

Shirokusa ended the conversation there and moved a little away. With her back against us she muttered something under her breath.

“This is bad…… I even practiced cooking…… this was my chance…… and that thieving cat isn’t around either…… now the plan will……”

“Oh, everyone’s here.”

Tetsuhiko arrived right at the meeting time.

“Shall we go then?”

“Oi, Tetsuhiko. Rena hasn’t arrived yet.”

“She’s here.”

Tetsuhiko spun around and turned his gaze towards the middle of the crowd.

I squinted my eyes and looked around and– ah, there she was. With a video camera in one hand, she was masterfully half-hidden so as to not stand out.

What was this supposed to be, “Where’s Wally?”?

“Why’s she over there?”

“She has her job as the film crew, doesn’t she?”

“Even so, wouldn’t it be better if she were together with us?”

“We can just let her do as she likes, can’t we?”

Tetsuhiko really could be dry like this at times. Only Rena being Rena, it didn’t seem like she was being made to act under orders.

Rena’s clothing was casual, and I could see that she had purposely made it plain so as to avoid standing out. She had a radiant personality after all, and I never realised because I always saw her in her uniform, but she appeared to be the type to conceal her presence in private.

“Then it wouldn’t matter even if she’s together with us, would it?”

“I guess.”

“Then–”

“I’ll go call her.”

It was Maria who ran off first.

Having gotten off to a late start I had no choice but to observe, only to see Rena initially wave and refuse to join us. After some impassioned persuasion by Maria, however, she shrugged her shoulders and came over, perhaps in resignation.

“Oh, hey there.”

“What’s up, Rena? Isn’t your character supposed to be cheekier than this?”

“You really have no delicacy, do you, paisen? What do you even look at me as?” Rena pouted unhappily.

“To be honest, I’ve never gone on a trip outside of school. I’m so busy being a jack of all trades that I only interact with my class and stuff at the bare minimum. So it’s like I don’t know where I should be and–”

“And so that’s why you’re only going to try to do your job well and film from far away?”

“Well, something like that.”

Well, a person without issues wouldn’t be working as a “Jack of All Trades” in the first place, I suppose.

“As such, I’ll be fine even if y’all just leave me alone, so all of you should just–”

“Dumbass.”

I landed a chop on the top of Rena’s head.

“Ow! What was that for?!”

“The more you say stuff like that, the harder it becomes for us to leave you alone, isn’t it?”

“W- Wait, I really didn’t say I wanted y’all to do anything in particular–”

“You think so too, don’t you, Momo?” I broached, at which Maria nodded as if to say she had been waiting for me to.

“Yes, there’s no need to hold back, no matter how much you may call yourself a stagehand. We’re all going on this trip together, after all.”

Using the word “stagehand” so readily was very Maria-esque.

I was sure that even now when filming she would take the initiative to call out to any who were alone or seemed to have a hard time fitting in. I understood very well that that was what she was doing earlier.

Well, we were talking about Maria after all, so perhaps some calculation was involved, but it was also said that sometimes hypocrisy was better than not doing anything.

So I thought I’d help Maria out.

“In that case, Rena, take it as a request from me to the ‘Jack of All Trades’ for us to have fun on this trip together. It’ll make me feel terrible if you became some sort of lonely outcast.”

“But that’s……”

“Also, I want you to please get to know Momo better. She’ll be transferring to us soon after this long weekend, so until then don’t you think it’ll be better for her to at least have one friend in her grade?”

“But this way only I gain, so it doesn’t work as a request……”

“Then you’ll pay after you’ve succeeded.”

Rena glanced at Tetsuhiko’s face.

Tetsuhiko scratched his head, shrugging his shoulders as if to say “Why not?”.

Rena’s cheeks turned red, before she then deeply bowed her head.

“I- In that case, I hope we get along!”

“Yes, I too hope we get along.”

As Maria so answered while taking Rena’s hand, the latter looked joyful as she smiled even while acting a little embarrassed.

”Suu-chan’s always so kind…… That’s why I……” Shirokusa whispered.

“Ooh……” said Eri-san, gazing at the members of the Ultramarine Alliance. “…… I see,” she finished, and nodded happily.

    1. You’re roughly 24h too late for that. I already announced that we will be dropping the series, edited the website, and deleted the role on the server. I don’t want anything to do with that series anymore anyway, so you’ll have to join another group or create one yourself to translate it. Though I wouldn’t know why you would suffer through that.

I think thats just people’s inability to adapt to change/ respect an author’s writing i’ve heard the same bs with other series.

      1. There’s never been anything to respect here, and there never will be. Just get over it and read something actually worth your time, this is pathetic.
