Epilogue

The crowd at the train station was crazier than I had anticipated, making it feel like an entire stream of people was on the move. I cursed my foolishness that we’d up here. Since I had never gone to a fireworks festival before, I thought the scope would be about the same as the previous summer festival. Seeing the sheer endless amount of people coming from the exit of the train station, I grew worried if I could actually spot the girl. If she wore a yukata like before, I may find a lucky shot, but since she said she’d be wearing her casual clothes, I wasn’t so confident anymore.

A new train arrived at the platform, with a new stream of people leaving the building. I think she should be here any minute now. I closely looked through the group of people. After the majority disappeared, a single girl stepped through the ticket gate. She wore a checkered long skirt with a short-sleeved blouse. This combination immediately caught my eye. After moving a bit away from the crowd of people, the girl looked around, seemingly searching for someone.

“Sako-san.”

“Ah, Tsuyoshi-kun!”

Catching on to me calling out to her, the girl showed a blooming smile and waved her hand at me.

“I’m surprised you found me so quickly.”

“…Well, yeah.”

“What is that vague reaction about? Be straight.”

“You look so cute I immediately knew it was you.”

“Okay, that was a bit too straight…” Sako-san blushed and pouted.

As I knew it, she’s adorable. She was probably trying to hide her embarrassment because she grabbed my wrist and started running.

“Praising a girl’s clothes was advice from Isaka-kun, right? I thought you were going to stop with that?” Sako-san complained.

“Unrelated to that advice, I praised you because I genuinely feel that way.” Sako-san seemed like she was agonizing and waved my hand around.

“I’ll forgive you, so don’t say it anymore!”

“Good, good.”

It wouldn’t be good if we got separated, so I grabbed Sako-san’s hand, to which she silently interlocked fingers with me. We lined up next to each other, with neither of us taking the lead, also not lacking behind. At the same speed, the same distance we made our way towards the fireworks festival.
