Afterword

Hello there, this is Hazama Takashi here. Thank you very much for picking up volume two of Asahina Wakaba to MaruMaru na Kareshi.

By the time this book makes it to the shelves, it’s already Christmas. Nine years ago, the last chapter of this series’ original source was uploaded, which also happened on the 25th of December, the night of Christmas. It is an odd coincidence, but I’m sure this must be fate.

Talking about the 25th, the comicalization of Hige-sama now starts as well. There, you will be able to see all sorts of scenes not portrayed in the novel, so please check it out if you have the time!

Now then, how did you like Asahina Wakaba to MaruMaru na Kareshi as a novel? The greater half of this volume had a lot of development that made it tough on our protagonist. Although she was forced, she paid the price for her lies, and felt all her fortune and happiness collapse on her.

Even I had trouble writing all these scenes where Wakaba was suffering…and finished all of it in a blink. I made great progress, really. But, leaving aside my own personality and tastes, let’s talk about Asahina Wakaba as a protagonist.

If I had to be honest, she is very bothersome to deal with. She can be kind at times, and collected, but at heart, she is very similar to Futaba. She’s cheerful, and not dense at all. She would get played around with by the boys, and feel deep jealousy. My editor even gave a nonchalant She’d definitely be hated by her female friends! comment with a wry smile. But, that’s exactly why Wakaba is the protagonist here.

She can’t stay a child forever. In the main story, she encounters Haruto, and starts growing thanks to his kindness, finally reflecting on her actions. Naturally, Haruto isn’t perfect either, but he manages to fix himself thanks to Wakaba. They both influence each other, growing up to becoming adults. That is the later half of this novel. I hope it becomes more clear with the perspective of Haruto being in the mix in the extra chapter. Either way, I am very happy that I managed to tell their story until the very end, and I hope you enjoyed it.

Now, let me give my thanks. A lot of people have helped me in these, specifically in my writing activities, such as my editor N-sama, and S-sama. I really was in your care. It is thanks to you two that I managed to finish this book.

Next, I want to give my deepest gratitude to Momomochi-sama, who drew all these beautiful characters. The two cover illustrations of Wakaba are especially wonderful…I often found myself staring at them.

Now then, I hope that maybe we can see each other again.
