In Indonesian ‘Stop it!’ means ‘Hentikan!’. Doesn’t that kind of sound like ‘hentai’? The word ‘Hentai’ is already globally understood, so in the case of a cute Indonesian girl, something like ‘Hentikan Hentai!’ would be possible, right? You could be stepped on by her foot as well. What romance.

Nice to meet you. I am the winner of the 6th MF Publishing’s light novel newcomer contest, Sagara Sou. After receiving such a generous prize, I spent my days shaking like a small bird. In order to bring the greatest morning chirping to my precious readers, I went through a lot of training. If my parent bird, or in other words, my editor, gives me any sort of advice or correction, I listen no matter what. For example:

“Since the title is Hentai Ouji, why not make your afterword a bit perverted as well? It’s just an idea. Nothing more than an idea. You get it, right? Yeah?”

Naturally, I immediately accepted such kind advice with great joy. Sob Sob.

Since I already brought it up, let me talk about the title a bit. As you know, this title is a bit… special (roundabout tone), so there might be those of you who jumped to the afterword first. For them I would like to convey that this story actually isn’t so much of a perverted one. I think. Probably. Rather, it’s more of a heartfelt romantic pure youth-type… I’m sorry, I’m a bit lost, myself.

Anyway, publishing normally should have changed the title a bit. However, after more than half a year of discussion back and forth, we arrived at the conclusion of ‘Like wives and tatami mats, take one turn and revert it back to before¹!’, or something like that at least. We certainly did not choose this title because we couldn’t be bothered anymore.

As for any other possible ideas, we had a more pure one with ‘The Invigorating Prince and the Stony Cat’, but…

“I mean, this guy is still a pervert. There’s no beating around the bush there…”

Or so my editor told me as if he was looking at a worthless slime, so I was forced to give up. But I will let you readers see for yourself if our Prince is really a pervert or not. If there are those of opposing opinions such as ‘I’m more of a pervert, oi!’ or ‘A real pervert has to be like this!’, I would kindly ask you to work with me on this.

By the way, personally, I have to say that my dear parent bird-san (figuratively) who sends me an email as such in the middle of the day is really the number one.

‘A recent picture of you? Why not with a rucksack on your back? Or some recording from the Soapland²? By far your Soapland face! Hurry, recorder!’

Can someone admit this man to a hospital already?

Leaving the jokes aside, I really have been in Iwaasa-sama’s care. Until my chirping voice was ready to be heard, he worked over the manuscript countless times. I’m truly sorry for troubling you like this. I’ll try my best starting tomorrow.

I fear I have to continue these things for a while, starting with the judges from the election committee. Naturally, I have to thank them for choosing my novel. Especially for giving me such warm comments as well. I cannot be grateful enough. Following that we have Hirasaka-sensei, who has honored me with a few comments of his own. I was really happy. I will use your words and feelings to make myself stronger!

Starting with the head editor, I would like to thank everybody else who has helped in distributing this novel, and my friends H-kun and M-kun for helping me polish it.

Lastly, a word for Kantoku-sama, who has blessed me with some wonderful illustrations. I cannot find any words to really thank you for what you have done. I really cannot live without these illustrations anymore. If I were asked ‘What is more important to you? Your life or these illustrations?’ I would tell them how much I loved these illustrations before they would end me. Please continue to support me from now on as well!

Naturally, to finish it off, I hope that I can see all of you again in the future.
